So I decided to make another Christmas tree portrait and go more towards OG Grandma style. Grandma used black velvet but I only had black silk but I figured it was close enough. My living room is decorated in the reds and blacks and silvers so I tried to stick with this theme. I actually was able to incorporate a vintage rhinestone necklace that I purchased for my wedding (but didn't actually wear).

The Continuation of our Disney Holiday...
When Erikka and I were growing up we had special Santa hot chocolate mugs that we used every Christmas. I actually spotted reproductions at Pottery Barn this year
I was at the Disney Store yesterday and spotted these Minnie and Mickey hot chocolate mugs for Hayden and Stella and had to have them. I love passing down traditions to the kiddos.

Our Own Nightmare Before Christmas!
So the fam wants to have a Jack Skelington Christmas this year. My sister and I are "obsessed" with Halloween and we have subsequently passed this gene down to Hayden and Stella. They pretty much talk about Halloween year round and make several different costume changes throughout the year. They finally narrow it down in August or September and then it's ON!

Just Like Grandma used to...
So I got this idea from my Grandma and have been wanting to make these for the last two years. I finally got around to it. Yeah! She made some of these beautiful Christmas decorations with her old necklaces, bracelets, brooches, and earrings. Of course she used gorgeous vintage jewelry and I had to settle with my old junk jewelry which mostly consists of Forever21 pieces, but you get the drift. I will now be on the hunt for some real vintage jewelry at thrift stores or maybe Ebay so that I can make it a little more authentic.

Christmas is Upon Us...
The official Christmas season has begun and the Hieserich's (me) have started to decorate the house. This year I am on a mission to revamp my old and tired Christmas decorations. I decided to start on my fireplace mantel, the heart of every home, and I must admit I did so a just an weensy teensy bit before Thanksgiving. OOPS! I was inspired by all the beautiful peacock colors and feathers that have been so popular this year. I know not super original but I just LOVE THEM, so I went for it. My next big project will be a huge painting of peacock feathers to go on the wall. This item I will keep up year round.
